A most welcome addition to most any historical collection and environment! Probably Mene’s most famous sculpture
“l’Accolade.” According to Wikipedia, these two Arabian horses, a stallion and a mare, are named Tachiani and Nedjebe. The bronze cast was introduced in 1853 in Paris.
This is perhaps Mene’s best-known work, and it is a beautiful signed bronze sculpture with magical patina. Length 25 inches; height 16 1/2 inches. Pierre Jules Mène (French, 1810-1879) began his artistic career in 1838 when he exhibited animal sculptures at the Paris Salon.
